Bold. Witty. Authentic. Strength.

About Me

I learned early that survival isn't just about making it through the day. It's about finding the will to keep going when life gives you every reason to quit. Growing up on the South Side of Chicago shaped the way I think, sharpened my wit, and taught me resilience, resourcefulness, and determination. It wasn't always easy, but it taught me how to adapt, how to endure, and how to find hope when life didn't offer many guarantees.

Today, I call central Arizona home, carrying with me both the grit of Chicago and the quiet perspective I've found beneath the desert sky. Life introduced me to realities most people spend a lifetime trying to avoid. I learned early that everything can change in an instant, forever taking away the innocence of believing there will always be more time. Since then, I've lived with an awareness that every day is a gift, every moment matters, and hope is something we choose.

Years of kidney failure, dialysis, countless surgical procedures, and the long wait for a kidney transplant have changed me in ways I never expected. They taught me that strength isn't pretending you're fearless. It's getting up every day and moving forward anyway. Those experiences didn't just shape my life, they became the foundation of the stories I write.

I'm more than the challenges I've faced. I'm a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, which means I've learned a thing or two about loyalty, patience, and believing even when the odds aren't in your favor. I enjoy picking up my guitar when words aren't enough, and I've always been fascinated by technology and the possibilities it creates. That curiosity eventually led me to build technology designed to help people living with chronic illness, combining innovation with empathy in the hope of making someone else's journey a little easier.

When I write, I'm drawn to ordinary people facing extraordinary moments. I'm interested in the choices we make, the relationships that sustain us, and the quiet courage that often goes unnoticed. My stories explore family, resilience, faith, redemption, humor, loss, and the enduring strength of the human spirit, because those are the things that have shaped my own life.

If there's one thing I hope readers take away from my work, it's this: no matter how difficult the journey becomes, there is always a reason to keep going. Sometimes hope whispers instead of shouts. Sometimes courage looks like simply making it through another day. And sometimes the stories we need most are the ones that remind us we're never as alone as we think.

With gratitude and grit, G.B. Hill
